Funky Town Focus: How Rooted.817 is Empowering Local Stories & Connections

In this week’s Built By Her series, we’re proud to spotlight Chelsea Davis, the visionary behind Rooted.817 —a digital platform dedicated to uplifting Fort Worth’s Black and Brown communities through storytelling, marketing, and meaningful community connection.

Chelsea, a proud Fort Worth native, started Rooted.817 with one goal in mind: to fill the gap she saw in how local stories—especially those from historically marginalized communities—were being told and celebrated. Backed by a background in marketing and a Master’s degree in Public Administration, Chelsea brought her unique blend of creativity and purpose to life during the pandemic, stepping fully into her power and launching a brand that truly reflects the soul of the city she calls home.

“After realizing and accepting my passion for people and supporting grassroots initiatives through digital marketing, I created Rooted.817 to celebrate and amplify all things Funky Town, Texas.”

Rooted.817 is more than just a digital platform. It’s a community hub. Through her bi-weekly newsletter, Chelsea keeps folks in the loop on events, resources, and opportunities in Fort Worth. Her Weekend Highlights, shared across social media, are a go-to guide for what’s happening locally, especially if you want to support events, businesses, and initiatives created by and for Black and Brown residents.

Why Rooted.817 Stands Out

Chelsea’s brand is rooted (pun intended) in three core values:
🌿 Authenticity
🌿 Collaboration
🌿 Creativity

These values are evident in every aspect of Rooted.817—from the curated event coverage to the way Chelsea captures and shares community stories. Fun fact: She didn’t even reveal herself as the creator of Rooted.817 until this year (2025). Now, she’s stepping fully into the spotlight and owning her role as a digital storyteller, community connector, and creative leader.

And if Rooted.817 had a theme song? It’d be “Up Jumps Da’ Boogie”—a perfect match for the brand’s funky, nostalgic, and soulful energy.
